Challenge

Idea Bank primarily focuses on the small-and-medium enterprises market. It is the first bank in the world to have combined online banking, accounting and other functionalities facilitating company management in one application. No similar solutions had existed on the market and it was a banking revolution.

In 2013, the time had come for another innovative solution, i.e. “cloud banking” – Idea Cloud. BlueSoft has participated in developing Idea Bank’s new cloud banking system. As part of the project, we co-created an integration bus based on the webMethods platform. The bus was supposed to allow communication between existing and new systems and ensure its flexible and efficient development depending on the Client’s needs.

Solution

BlueSoft started with a business and technical analysis in order to verify the architecture and scope of work. Due to the fact that the target solution was to comprise more than 300 services, often with highly developed logic, this stage required particular diligence.
Any analytical gaps require additional resources at later stages of a project.

Realizing that the bus being developed was supposed to be the central point of new Online Banking, we cared particularly about ensuring full functionality and stability in accordance with the adopted schedule of all tests and implementations.

Business Process Management (BPM) was another area which needed careful analysis. Support modules were planned for product requests and fee calculation. Eventually, more than 20 separate processes, comprising a total of approximately 600 steps, were designed.

In order to provide a top quality solution, many complex support mechanisms were created, e.g. buffering, synchronizing or JMS notification mechanism. Moreover, the project also included a Product Catalogue and a reporting module based on BRIT eclipse tool.
Efficiency and stability are the key aspects in developing ESB and BPM class solutions.

Any delay or outage of the system may spread to other systems and hinder the operation of the business areas supported by them.
Precise and comprehensive tests were appropriately planned and completed. Consequently, the correctly scaled infrastructure has ensured seamless operation of the platform since Day 1.

Result

The work of the team of 15 resulted in the CORE application based on the webMethods platform. It carries out certain Idea Cloud functionalities and relays communications between CRM and electronic banking systems and the bank’s transaction systems.

All application services are provided in a uniform way and they conform to industry best practices. Not only does it improve cross-system communication, but it also facilitates managing the entire IT environment and significantly reduces time necessary to conduct future improvements.

In cooperation with Idea Bank IT department staff, one of the key IT projects for Idea Bank SA has been completed, starting from needs analysis to drafting a project to implementation and installation to maintenance and administration.

We are proud of our team, taking into account the scope of project work – both analysis and development, the ability to adjust the solution to changing requirements, quality of cooperation at any stage and timely completion.

All the more, New Idea Bank Online Banking, whose seamless operation hinges on the quality and reliability of communication provided by the bus, has been acclaimed by the jury of BAI-Finacle Global Banking Innovation Awards.
